Race Rules: 1. It is the Captain’s responsibility to ensure that all team members are aware of ALL Race, Traffic and Safety Rules. Waiver must be signed by Captain indicating they have shared the rules with their team. 2. Runners must wear their assigned competition number on the front. The number must be visible at all times. 3. Unmarked vehicles will have a 5 min. maximum drop off allowed for participants. Every team must supply reflective vests for support personnel. ONLY 2 SUPPORT VEHICLES clearly displaying team identification are allowed to be at transition sites. Unmarked vehicles will be subject to a timed penalty – it will be awarded to the team vehicle is supporting. 4. Competition numbers are not transferable. Competitor’s numbers must correspond to the stage they are running except in the case of substitution. DO NOT use the number of the person being substituted. 5. Participants must run on the left side, facing oncoming traffic and shall run on the paved shoulder wherever possible. 6. Each runner is expected to know and complete his/her designated stage. 7. No runner may compete for more than one team. 8. At each exchange, the runner starting the next leg must report to the race official in charge of registration before starting the leg and MUST be escorted across the highway by a transition support worked. Failure to do so will result in a timed penalty. 9. A runner not completing a leg may not run again in the race. A runner substituting for another may run his/her later leg. The names and competition numbers and reason(s) for substitution of the runners involved in the substitution must be reported to the registration official at the next exchange. Failure to report a substitution MAY result in disqualification. ALL substitutions not declared before the Team Captain’s meeting is subject to a timed penalty. Another female except on an open team may only substitute a female. 10. Another runner, bicycle or vehicle may not pace runners. 11. Each team should consist of ten (10) runners, but may have a minimum of five (5) runners. 12. Mixed teams must have at least FOUR stages run AND COMPLETED by female runners. 13. Runners MUST NOT wear headsets, no personal listening devices of any kind worn in any fashion. Failure to comply will result in disqualification. 14. No wheeled devised or dogs are allowed to go with runners. 15. Runners completed each stage are not permitted to cross the highway unless accompanied by a transition support worker. Failure to do so will result in a timed penalty. 16. ALL vehicles MUST adhere to all traffic/parking signs along the route and at transition signs. Failure to do so will result in a timed penalty.
· Timed infractions are at the discretion of the committee based on severity.
